Reece Windjack joins the Michael O’Neal Singers as Assistant/Cover Conductor. A Florida State University graduate with a Bachelor of Music Education in Choral Music, Reece’s leadership is shaped by his experience growing up in the foster care system in Southern Georgia. He believes every person deserves to experience the transformative power of choral music.
Much of his work has been mentoring emerging artists at the Sphinx Performance Academy, a nationally recognized summer intensive held at institutions including The Juilliard School, University of Colorado Boulder, Cleveland Institute of Music, and Boston Conservatory at Berklee. Reece also supported the artistic and personal growth of over 150 students at Interlochen Arts Academy, a premier arts boarding school.
As Vice-Chair of the Youth Committee for the International Federation for Choral Music, he has helped shape global youth leadership and engagement, including work at the 2023 World Symposium on Choral Music in Istanbul, Turkey. He has presented at Chorus America, Florida ACDA, and the European Choral Association, and has been published in The Choral Journal.
Reece is excited to meet and collaborate with the singers of the Michael O’Neal Singers. As Fred Rogers said, “Look for the helpers. There are always people who are helping.”
